What is human trafficking? What are the motivations for and types of human trafficking that are common in Malaysia? How can our laws, policies, and services better protect and respond to survivors of human trafficking?
This report has two goals:
- To draw learning points for ourselves and other NGOs serving women and children survivors of human trafficking
- To highlight gaps in laws, policies, and procedures around trafficking, in order to bring about legislative reform and greater enforcement of existing laws against trafficking in persons.
The report does this through deepening our understanding of the circumstances of women and children trafficking survivors in Malaysia, drawing from the real life experiences of the women and children WAO has served.
