WAO has embarked on a new large-scale research project entitled ‘Endemicity, Care, Gender: Towards Developing Resilience in Malaysia’s Essential Care Workforce and Infrastructure’. For the duration of 10 months (December 2023 – September 2024), a Senior Research Officer will be contracted to coordinate and support the implementation and execution of the research and its identified deliverables. The position of Senior Research Officer is a full-time and contract position at WAO and will be supervised by the Research Data Manager. As a member of the project team, the Senior Research Officer is expected to work together with other project team members, WAO staff and a variety of external stakeholders to fulfill project goals, objectives and deliverables.

The Research and Advocacy Officer is a part of WAO’s Advocacy Team, which advocates for an end to violence against women and gender discrimination by strategically influencing public policies and changing mindsets. Specifically, the Research and Advocacy Officer supports the implementation of WAO’s research studies and advocacy campaigns, which involves engaging policymakers, research partners, the public and other stakeholders in order to create reform public policies and shape public discourse related to violence against women and gender equality. The Research and Advocacy Officer is supervised by the Head of Research.

The Capacity Building Manager (Contract) (CB Manager) is a core personnel in WAO’s Capacity Building department for the UNFPA Team TINA programme. The manager would advocate for an end to gender-based violence and gender discrimination by influencing laws, policies, practises, and public attitudes through diversified grassroots community and government agencies outreach. The CB Manager would act as a resource person and are part of the team that executes plans to achieve meaningful social change by strategising for the mobilisation of communities and developing the capacities of targeted public and private sectors to take action towards eliminating gender-based violence.

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Case Management and the overall management of the Services Director, the Social Worker is responsible for individual case management and delivery of case management output of the Services Team. The Social Worker is responsible for assessing and identifying Client’s needs and in consultation and collaboration with the Client, develop and implement a case management plan. The Social Worker is also responsible for conducting regular discussion and facilitation sessions with Clients. The Social Worker is based at the Refuge/Office and works closely with the Head of Programme/ Team, Head of Shelter/Team and Services Administrator.
