Erykah Badu, Live in KL! Supports WAO through Ticket Sales

 80% Erykah Badu + 20% Women’s Aid Organisation = A concert

February 21, 2012. Kuala Lumpur – Pineapple Concerts today announced a partnership with the Women’sAid Organisation (WAO) in conjunction with Erykah Badu Live in KL 2012 to be held on 28th February at the KL Convention Centre. .As part of the partnership 20% of all ticket sales on 22 February 2012 will be channeled towards WAO.

“Unbeknownst to many Erykah Badu is training towards a certification in midwifery and community-driven development issues are close to her heart. We figured that since she’s ‘live’ in KL, we’d do our bit towards helping a cause and we decided on women’s causes. We’re channeling 20% of all ticket sales on 22 February 2012 towards WAO and their efforts. So we’re asking all of you Erykah Badu fans out there to purchase your tickets on Wednesday and play your part” said RazmanRazali, Managing Director, Pineapple Concerts.

“We are delighted to be associated with the Erykah Badu Live in KL concert because she is lending her beautiful voice to raise much needed funds to help abused women and their children lead a life free from violence. At WAO, women and their children are given shelter, protection, counseling and legal advice. Just last year alone, there were over 3,000 police reports on domestic violence and rape. WAO has come a long way since 1982 and as we enter our 30th year, it’s heartening to know that our collaboration with Pineapple Concerts will enhance our efforts toward eliminating violence against women. WAO needs to raise RM1.5 million annually and every cent counts.” said Ivy Josiah, Executive Director, Women’s Aid Organisation.
