FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Unilever and Guardian unite to help address violence against women

Innovative new campaign delivers much needed support to Women’s Aid Organisation’s Pink Heart Campaign

March 2012 – Unilever has teamed up with Guardian Pharmacy in an exciting initiative to raise funds for the Women‟s Aid Organisation‟s (WAO) Pink Heart Campaign 2012. The campaign coincides with International Women‟s Day and seeks to generate money and support for WAO, as it continues to combat abuse against women in Malaysia.

Between 1 March to 30 April 2012, customers who spend RM20* or more on Dove, Lux, Sunsilk, Clear, Lifebuoy, Rexona, Fair & Lovely, Vaseline and Ponds products, can buy an exclusive „Pink Heart Foundation‟ charm bracelet (worth RM19.90) for just RM2.90. All proceeds will be donated to the Pink Heart Campaign for WAO to help fund the organisation‟s research, advocacy and public education programmes. The exclusive „Pink Heart‟ charm bracelet can also be purchased at RM9.90 from all Guardian Pharmacy stores, excluding KLIA and East Malaysia.

“We are proud to again be at the forefront of the Pink Heart Campaign in 2012 and working closely with Guardian Pharmacy and WAO to educate the community about the problem of violence against women, said Mr. Jason Chan, Customer Development Director, Unilever (Malaysia) Holdings Sdn Bhd.

“We must stand united in promoting women’s rights, here in Malaysia as one nation. It’s time to end violence against women and this partnership signifies our desire to do so,” Mr. Chan added.

“Being the authority in Health and Beauty, we want to reinforce our dedication to community enrichment programs. Our collaboration with partners such as Unilever helps to reaffirm our commitment to help the underprivileged; primarily women and children”, said Ms Soon Ai Lan, Guardian GM Merchandising.

* Customers must spend RM20 on participating products on a single receipt to qualify.

The Pink Heart Campaign was first launched in March 2011 to an overwhelming public response. This year, the campaign aims to continue increasing awareness and understanding among individuals, public and relevant agencies on the issues of violence against women and underlying gender inequalities.
